Customers find the red dot sight well-made and reliable, particularly noting its durability on 12-gauge guns, and appreciate its functionality in normal daylight conditions. The sight is easily visible in bright daylight, with multiple brightness settings that assist in low light conditions, and customers find it easy to install, particularly on Picatinny rails. While the windage adjustment works well, the elevation adjustment doesn't work at all, and customers report that the sight isn't crisp and clear.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2012Product Packaging: Standard PackagingVerified PurchaseHere are my impressions of the Aim Sport Red Dot Sight.
First the pros...
The sight arrived in original plastic retail package in perfect condition. The sight is constructed of aluminum with a black matte finish. The machining looks very professional and I see no obvious flaws in workmanship. I had read previous reviews about over tightening the front recoil mounting screw so I was careful not to to strip it but I did not get the impression the threads were weak. The sight included two allen wrenches, lens cleaning cloth, rubber sight hood cover and an extra battery (CR2032). The sight comes with a battery installed and when I turned the turret to any of the positions 1 through 7 the red dot functioned as expected. The feel of the turret switch is solid with positive click positions at each stop. The battery is inside this turret switch. The windage and elevation screws are allen heads and also have a positive click.
I am not sure what the holographic lens it constructed of but it appears to be glass and has a slight blue tint when looking through the site, but still very transparent with no obstruction of the target in any light condition. The small red dot appears to be the most functional reticle for precision target work as the others are much larger but could be useful in hunting or plinking situations in brighter light. Shooting indoors at the range the small red dot on the lowest setting (1) was clearly visible without any noticeable glaring or distortion. I had read some reviews that you cannot see the reticle in bright sunlight but when I used the sight at noon with clear skies I was able to view even the small red dot on the lowest setting (1) and when increased to setting (3) could easily pick up the red dot even with the sun at my back and the sunlight shining directly on the sight. Not sure what conditions the other reviewers were shooting in, but I believe the sight functioned perfectly in low and bright light conditions.
The sight stayed on zero after several hundred shots and I was able achieve nickle sized groups consistently at 30 feet shooting two handed without a rest using a browning buckmark.
Now for the cons...
The only negative I experienced with the sight is that the screw at the front part of the sight that holds the upper portion of the sight to the base will work loose after a few hundred shots. This is easily corrected by removing the screw and applying locktite to the threads. So, I would recommend after you have inspected the sight for damage and perhaps shot with it some, you do the same and lock the front screw in place with locktite. To do this, with the sight removed from the gun, remove the front recoil mounting screw completely. With this removed you will see a straight slot screw head on the underneath side of the sight. This screw will be directly below where the sight window (mirror) is located. Remove the screw completely (the sight will not come apart as the elevation screw and springs hold the rear part in place. However, be gentle as excessive handling or twisting with the screw removed could cause the sight to come apart). With the screw removed apply the locktite to the end and then reassemble the sight. Tighten the screw until it fits snugly but do not over tighten. There is small foam pad between the upper and lower portion of the sight and that will begin to compress when at the proper fit.
I also recommend to apply locktite to the front and rear mounting bolts before mounting to the gun just to ensure these stay put. I did not experience any loosening of these bolts while shooting but while you have the locktite out you might as well. Again be sure not to over tighten any of these three screws or you will strip the housing.
Improvements would be for the factory to securely fasten the front housing screw which could help prevent negative reviews of the sight not staying on zero. Once this screw is secure, maintaining zero in not an issue. Also some basic mounting and operation instructions for novice shooters might be helpful as there were none in the package I received. However, the sight is very intuitive to mount and use so not an issue but more about good customer service and professional appearance.
Overall I was very pleased with the sight and would recommend it as a high quality sight and good value. If you are looking for a good quality red dot for target, plinking or hunting this sight will fit the bill. Especially if your eyes are getting a little older and have trouble with those pesky fuzzy iron sights which was the main reason I purchased a red dot.
Update... After about 1500 rounds the sight window came loose. Up until that point the sight had held it's zero perfectly. I re-glued the sight window back in place and re-zeroed the sight. After another 500 rounds I have had not further problems. I still believe overall it is worth the money.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 8, 2012Product Packaging: Standard PackagingVerified PurchaseIve used a great deal of scopes, red dots, holographics, and so on in my years. Ive had $1000 setups all the way down to this little $30 beauty.
Packaging was a joke, plastic almost that a toy would come in. Came with 2 allen wrenches for install and adjustment and 2 batteries. Oh cant forget the lens cover.
Install is simple, if you cant figure it out step away from the killing device in your hands as you are not qualified to use it. Once you have it snug on the gun make sure that everything is straight and tighten it down. I did not see where it would reccomend any loctite, I made that call on my own. Used a boresight to dial it in at home on a wall roughly 60 feet from me at the time, as the title states this is on a Shotgun (Mossberg 500).
So now to the fun, the range I use will not allow anything other than Slugs on the main range, theres a specific shotgun side, but I have pistols and rifles to play with so bring them all to one spot. This is an outdoor range with some cover. On brightness 1 it was easy to see under the cover, on 5+ easy to see in noon Florida day light. First round was a tad low, as expected its a shotgun, I was on 50 yard range. Quick tweak up and on target. Without exageration both myself and my father put 100 slugs out of the gun that day, each shot as accurate as the last. I went to the shotgun side just to burn up some garbage ammo just to help with the break in of the new gun. 2 boxes of 50 2 and 3/4 trap rounds as they are cheap. Then we finished up with some more slugs, still accurate as shot 1.
Follow up 2 weeks to another day at the range, still dead on did not lose zero. Plenty bright once again sunny Florida day.
Clif notes, Plenty Bright, Very accurate with little sway in the sight from head movement target stays on, Cheap nothing I love this red dot. I will be buying a few more for my 930SX and my Ar-15. I could not be happier. if you are trying to decide if this red dot is for you, email me I can send you the list of Dots I have had over $100 that could not hold zero on a Shotgun.

5.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't wanna hold zero
Product Packaging: Standard PackagingVerified PurchasePut this on a ruger 22/45 lite. Liked the look and build of the unit. Put it on and sighted in and was dead on...after a few hundred rounds it just went out of zero. Got it lined up again and it lost zero again. Almost seems like it's losing zero when I change reticles...not all that impressed ....... Well I found why it was not holding zero. The screw under the sight was coming loose; so I put lock tite on it and haven't had an issue since. Great little sight for the money!

5.0 out of 5 stars great - really great
Product Packaging: Standard PackagingVerified Purchaseeverything I was hoping for. haven't sighted it in yet, but looks solid enough for what I paid for it. I like the number of reticules, from a small red dot and up. I'd recommend this.
***two years later, I just bought a second one, nothing wrong with the first one, like it so much, I'm putting another one on another gun. great value.

2.0 out of 5 stars At least the lens and reticles were nice while they worked

3.0 out of 5 stars ... use brightness and clarity of the various dots is good. However
Product Packaging: Standard PackagingVerified PurchaseFor the indoor range I use brightness and clarity of the various dots is good. However, I have been having some trouble with the dot not moving fully with adjustment and then wandering. Horizontal is good but vertical is a problem.I suspect the springs are not quite strong enough. Given the low cost if I can get the zero to settle down I will be pretty happy. Much better than iron sites. My shot spread has reduced to about half what I achieve with my old eyes and iron sites.
