So i decided to go the inexpensive route this time and i couldn't be happier about the decision
5 out of 5 stars
So i decided to go the inexpensive route this time and i couldn't be happier about the decision
Completely met and exceeded all my expectations. Not exaggerating when i say that I must have shopped around and read reviews on different holographic for about two months and about twenty different inexpensive brands/models before deciding to purchase the Sightmark Ultra Shot Z series for my M4. I already own a Ar15 with a $800 Eotech scope and for what i paid for it thought i should be more impressed. So i decided to go the inexpensive route this time and i couldn't be happier about the decision. The Sightmark was painfully easy to mount and zero in. Took a total of about 8 shots to get it dead on accurate and that's only because i did two of the different reticle patterns. I've put several rounds through it and both zeroed reticle patterns have continued to stay dead on! The green illumination is easy to see and aquire targets with day or night and the scope itself is rugged and well built. I don't have a single negative thing to say about the Sightmark! Couldn't be more satisfied! I'll purchase Sightmark products every time from now on!

this optic is phenomenal. I have put over a 1000 rounds down range from my S&W M&P 15 5.56/.223, and it works flawlessly. when you make a purchase that significantly cheaper than the higher end models(EOTech), it draws a little suspicion as to how well the product will work, but rest assured this product performs excellent. right out of the box, it was almost zeroed in to my rifle(+/- 1 inch up/down and left/right). the range officer at my local spot sat with me for no more than 10 minutes, and boom, i was shooting some amazing groupings. the reticle options look great, and all have benefits. make sure that you not only keep the glass clean, but also the glass from where the reticle is actually projected from, because the reticle can become blurry. but they give you a soft cloth for cleaning so it all works out in the end. also, the mount sits snug as can be with no play on my rails, and the quick detach is perfect. i don't think i could ask more from this optic, and has turned me on to the sightmark brand. hope i helped out your decision for purchasing, cheers.

I was looking for a decent reflex sight that I could use on a MPA mini-9, ( yes, I know......it's only a range toy, but it makes anti's crap their pants because of the look). Anyway, I didn't want to spend eotech money but wanted something that'll last. I found the sightmark z series to be in the price range so I thought I'd give it a try. After receiving the sight and cleaning the lens, I attached it to the MPA. It is a hardy sight, feels just like it looks - well built. The reticles are very crisp and as per instructions or other reviews, I picked out one of the four and am sticking with it ( apparently if you switch reticles after zeroing, you need to re-zero). The quick mount holds steady, no movement whatsoever on mine at least. This sight even has a small picantinny rail on the side to add something else, but I am not going to be throwing anything else on a range toy. I've had no issues with brightness so far, with 5 settings, I always am able to find one that works for me - although everyone is different. After 1200 rounds downrange, this sight is as good as when I unboxed it. For the money, and considering that I'm not going to be on the frontline anymore, this sight is just as good as an eotech. Now, if I was back in the army... yes I would want an eotech but for the average joe, this is just as good for a fraction of the price with a lifetime warranty thrown in.

I managed to find this for cheaper than the non-"Z" model so I bought it. The knobs are some what stiffer than I would prefer, and the finish on the outer shroud is rougher than I wold like to see. I can not figure out why anyone would want a rail on their optic, just about the last place you want to put more weight and the LARGE "Z" on the top is pretty ugly. But other than those things; The optic is clear and easy to see, even in bright daylight. The quick release mount is adjustable and solid. And the overall impression is one of quality. For this price this seems to be a great optic. Sure an EOtech is probably better, but an EOtech also 4X the price.

I bought this for my Weatherby PA-459 12-ga... I know, probably a mistake. I've had a couple issues with it. The first thing I noticed was the picatinny rail was mounted crooked. I thought, no problem, I'll loosen the screws, straighten it, and tighten them back up. Nope. The holes are drilled slightly off center. Kind of annoying as I was going to use this for a laser, but have resorted to use it as just a flashlight mount due to accuracy issues.

Second issue; After about 200 rounds or so of 12ga with this sight equipped, the sight started flickering. I tightened down the battery cap which had worked itself loose, and fixed that problem, however there is now a slight shadow or dual-image of each reticle on every brightness setting for whatever reason. The housing itself seems slightly "loose", and I can slightly move it side to side on the base with it mounted on my shotgun, I've tried tightening all the screws I can get to without taking the thing apart, but they're already as tight as can be without risking stripping the screws. I'm thinking heavy recoil may have caused this, or maybe it did it all along and I never noticed. Either way, it seems to effect the zero cause I have to keep adjusting it every now and then. Could also be parallax issues.

Third problem; The adjustments. My brightness setting knob doesn't really lock into place all that great, so it sometimes shifts during recoil or just touching it slightly accidentally. Also, my windage screw doesn't "click" left. It's more of a mushy feel. It clicks right just fine, and elevation adjustments feel fine.

I might end up putting this on my S&W M&P 15-.22 if I can get used to the shadow or double-imaging, which makes it seem extra blurry, but I don't feel I should have to "get used to it".It is built out of solid materials, pretty heavy and bulky. Feels great, just my particular sight isn't holding up great at all for how new it is... haven't even had it a whole month yet.

UPDATE: I have returned this sight. I couldn't get used to the dual imaging. The seller, Reds Gear, was a pleasure to work with and very prompt about the return and refund process.

This sight does everything mentioned above: fails after a few rounds, gradually loosens itself from the rail, and is an all-around under-performing optical sight. In a few words, this sight is cheaply made. I think the housing is okay and the intensity dial seems solid, but everything else (including electronics, mounting, battery compartment) is a collosal disappointment. Any price above $15 is asking too much.
