- Reviewed in the United States on March 5, 2013Let me start by explaining why I almost returned this scope on day one. When I first received the unit I fired it up and went out onto the porch to check it out and everything was super crisp and clear, the dot was laser crisp with no ghosting or bloom effect. Later that evening I decided to check out the various brightness levels and noticed I was getting ghosting with a touch of bloom, I was indoors under poor light and was now skeptical and was almost ready to return it but decided to experiment with different lighting conditions.
Next day, fist thing in the morning under low morning light I took the scope out and sure enough it was super crisp and clear again. I realized that it needs light beyond that of indoor CFL to work as intended. I tried it out again in day light, sun shine and low light evening and it was still crisp and clear. So if you try this scope out in a low lit indoors and have a blurry reticle, keep in mind this requires outdoor light even if its low outdoor light.
My next goal was to try out several red dots from all the local stores around me to see if something worked better or even the same but was cheaper and after trying red dot after red dot, nothing compared. Below is the features that others don't have or lack:
- T-Dot style - this reticle is both super fast to acquire your target and full of precision because of the 3 moe center dot. most other units had just a dot, bigger dot or just a single color (red or green) but not both.
- Brightness levels that work! - every setting is visually seen and actually makes a difference using it. You will use the various settings and unlike cheep dot scopes, this one doesn't increase the size of the reticle as the brightness increases.
- Standard batteries - so many dot scopes out there take weird, expensive hard to find battery's, this one takes a standard, cheap easy to find battery!
- Long Battery life! - Based on reviews out there, people have left the scope on for 4 weeks and still had a dot! That should translate to a very long time of use when actually turning it off!
- Easy to read state - You can easily tell when the unit is off or what level your on thanks to the numerical dial.
A few other things I want to comment on are how ridged the brightness level dial is, it clicks very firmly and is very high quality. The scope also attaches firmly by hand, so it's very quick to come on and off even though after using it you will always want it on! I have tried so many red dots and this one stands so far above the pack that I can't recommend it enough and after you use the T-dot style reticle you won't settle for anything else! 5 stars and then some! Any questions, feel free to ask.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 6, 2011I've used mine and it does the job to the extent that it was designed to...nothing more. Those who rate this scope poorly because it doesn't deliver ACOG performance are just not living in the real world. If you want or expect more, buy a high-end scope. If you aren't looking for (or don't need)the best, this one will do...if your life doesn't depend day-in & day-out on your equipment.
This sucker is heavy at approximately one pound. If you aren't a strong individual and/or you plan on carrying your weapon for extended periods of time, you'll want a lighter scope if you are mounting this on anything heavier than an M4. With a modified HK93 (tri-rail handguard, tactical flashlight & laser), this scope puts the whole rig over 11 pounds with a partially loaded 40 round magazine. This isn't necessarily a negative, just an observation.
In regards to the negatives, there's no excuse for having a reticle that's ghosted or gives off a double image such as mine does. Also, the overall finish on the product was okay at best. At the relatively low price point, it simply isn't worth the time and energy to send back for a replacement or repair, and I think Bushnell is counting on that. Bushnell's quality control leaves much to be desired, in my opinion.
Overall, I would recommend this scope to someone who is looking for a low-cost alternative to "the real thing" and doesn't plan on carrying their weapon into combat. This will suffice for wowing them at the range or for fast acquisition of a home invading bad guy. However, if you need a tough tactical reflex sight/scope for military applications...save up and buy the real thing.
UPDATE: I ended up selling this sight for $80. I decided that the combination of a ghosted image with the heavy weight was a deal breaker. I ended up buying a Walther PS 22 red dot AND a Trijicon Reflex sight, but would still give this sight a 3 out of 5.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Unit, Great Price!
I had previously bought one of these units for my M4 (.223) carbine.
The unit is rugged, easy to set up and use, and holds zero very nicely.
In fact, it worked so well, I decided to by another one for my CQB M4-9mm.
Well worth the $169.99 sale price! And it came with free shipping.
I would recommend this unit to anybody looking for a good, inexpensive and reliable red dot type optic!

installed it on my AR15 and works like a charm, 10 shots and was hitting a 10 inch target at 200 feet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great value!
I was looking for a good set of optics that wouldn't break the bank for my AR15, these are it. Great rugged design, bright red/green reticle and for the price, can't beat it!

2.0 out of 5 stars Bad design
The nuts holding the base if the scope are cheap, break easily and easy to loose after 2 5 rounds
I don't recommend to any one.
