Product Description

Primary Arms Classic Series Gen II Removable Microdot Red Dot Sight

Product Overview - MD-RBGII (810011)

The Classic Series proves that entry-level optics don’t have to be poor quality optics. Unlike some other brands, we don’t use the word “value” as a euphemism for “junk”. CLx scopes are perfect for the budget conscious and the new shooter. We take the time to 100% inspect every product in our facility here in Houston to ensure you are receiving the best quality product as our other three tiers.

This Primary Arms Microdot sight is our second-generation model that are affordable while retaining excellent quality and durability. We have included a MIL-STD-1913 picatinny rail mount with this red dot sight, so you can attach it to your rifle right out of the box in a matter of seconds and head to the range to get it sighted in. Alternatively, the mount is removable and features mounting options for other standard microdot riser mounts, so you can customize the height and co-witness with your iron sights. Adjusting the zero of the dot is made easy with the ½ MOA audible click adjustments that are protected by aluminum caps. Also included with this optic is a bikini lens cover to protect the glass when not in use. If you are in the market for a red dot sight for hunting, target shooting, or competition, you can’t go wrong with the Primary Arms Microdot.

This micro red dot sight features 1,000 hours of battery life on a single CR2032 battery with 11 different illumination settings that can be quickly cycled through for use at night or on a bright day. This red dot sight is even compatible with night vision equipment to further extend its range of uses. The 2 MOA red dot is extremely crisp and allows you to take quickly aimed shots at short range while still giving you the ability to make effective shots at medium ranges. The glass that the red dot is projected on is fully multi-coated to reduce reflection and provide a clear sight picture. The glass and electronic internals are covered by a durable, black hardcoat anodized, 6061 aluminum housing with O-rings providing protection from water and fog.

amazing optic!
5 out of 5 stars
amazing optic!
Ok so this optic is absolutely worth every penny. I have it on a leapers utg .83" riser mount and it wound up being lower 1/3 cowitness but still works great. If you want absolute cowitness you'll have to get the holosun mount, but back to this micro dot. This is almost an exact replica of the aimpoint micro t1 and is every bit as good. This 2 moa dot is so clear and crisp it's amazing. The adjustments for windage and elevation are very sturdy and crisp when they click. The lenses are very clear and easy to see through. The power settings are 0-11 and the first 2 settings are dim enough for night vision. Level 3 is where you want to set for low light, limited visibility scenarios. And honestly level 4 is more than bright enough for a cloudy day and it just gets brighter from there. If your wanting to get a nice optic for your AR or even an AK this is the best one you can get for this price range. And to be honest this is just as good and in my opinion better than an aimpoint just due to the pricing. Me being in the military, I have my government weapons and there is an aimpoint M68 (exact same thing as the primary arms classic 30mm red dot) and this micro dot is just as good if not better than my aimpoint on my work weapon. I will most definitely recommend this optic to anyone and everyone who is looking for something affordable and reliable. You'll also see I have a magnifier mounted behind my micro dot. It is the primary arms 3x magnifier and it's a solid piece of equipment as well. Get setup at a fantastic price point. Highly recommended.

reviews are subjective, and everyone is grading to a different scale. so for clarity i gave 5 stars based primarily on value/quality for the money spent (89.00 at time of my order) and not because i believe it to be a 5 star optic. secondary considerations were, packaging, shipping, extras.
my goal was to find an optic that didnt outcost the rifle. i purchased a keltek sub2000 9mm carbine for @500. so eotech, meprolight, trijicon, burris, even vortex was out of the question no matter how awesome they may be. originally shopped dag def and other budget brands but always found some sort of fatal flaw ( to me ) in the reviews. it came down to this versus the bushnell. the review here steered me to this one and im happy i got it.
first off it co-witnessed my ak with troy top rail, with no adjustments. dont know if it zeroed out of the box, ill find out in about 2 hours, but its nice to know i dont have to put my high end optics on my Frankenstein ak any longer.
now for the purpose i got it for...well, i need the 1inch riser to get it to work on the sub2k. oversight on my part. but i have every confidence it will perform when properly mounted.
extras - this is why it got bumped to 5 instead of 4 stars. i have a few high end optics but ill focus on my most recent purchases which are the eotech 512.a65 with eotech 3x magnifier. the comparison is for what you get for your money as the hws is apples and oranges to the red dot.

case - eotech wins. tough plastic lockable box with foam insets. this came in cardboard, but still had foam insets and all was damage free when received. now if your a shooter, you probably have a range bag with padded optic pockets or at least a small extra bag you stole from your 1980 35mm camera. but having a plastic case to store my optics in and transport without fear of dust, scratches, or stress, is pretty nice.

extras - primary arms wins. you get a lens cover (1 piece, front and rear caps. would have been a huge bonus if it had the flip up covers but too much to ask). you also get a lens cloth and a primary arms sticker, and a brief instruction book. for comparison, i had to spend money on a scopegoat for the hws, and no sticker for my ammo box :( also, when you spend xxx.xx for a quality hws, its really not too much to ask that a lens cloth be included. this was really poor on the part of eotech.

shipping - primary arms wins. i chose to order from primary arms and not the other options available here. ordered 3/30/16. arrived 3/31/16. was scheduled for 4/1/16. cant beat next day...except with same day maybe.

general: nice lightweight unit. feels like a quality optic, dials have enough resistance to let you know you are turning them, not so much as to make it an issue. dot is clearly visible with no bleed. placing it on front of rifle allows a wide field of vision and fast target acquisition . 2moa perfect for the short ranges i plan on shooting the carbine. not looking to reach out and touch someone at 500yrds with this.

place of manufacture : eotech made in usa. win. primary arms made in china (this particular unit, unknown if all their offerings are made in china). im not looking to start a quasi political discussion on the current trade situation, but i will say im pretty tired of my life being made in china. so made in usa is my preference in all purchases. unfortunate i couldnt find this price point and quality from the home team but doesnt make me less happy to own it.

verdict. at this price point, i dont think you can find a better red dot than this. read the other reviews, they mostly mirror my own experience thus far. note, i cannot speak to how it will handle the field, rain, mud, submersion, shock or any of the other hundred or so things that can happen. maybe this time next year ill have had the opportunity to report back on how it holds up over time, but for right now, today, this instant, i can say im pretty pleased with this optic.

Update (Original review below): After using it with the .22, I have to say this is a great little sight, and I'm changing my rating from 4 to 5 stars... It's very effective, and I also take back some of my original complaints. First, upon closer inspection, the brightness knob isn't plastic, though it feels a bit plasticky (mushy?) as you turn it. The clicks are defined enough to work. Also, outside in the light, the brightness levels were fine. A new minor complaint I found is that the windage and elevation knobs don't have well defined clicks at all (making the action of the brightness knob seem mechanically precise by comparison), but it doesn't really matter.
    -----------------
These are my initial impressions... I will update once I've used it some. I got this to use on a .22 Marlin rifle to protect my chickens from predators. For comparison, I have an Aimpoint Pro on my self-defense rifle. The Aimpoint is built like a tank, has a battery life of years while left on and ready to go at all times, and I have absolute confidence in it. But it is heavier and costs 4X what this small sight does. For this particular usage on the .22, I didn't want to spend much and was willing to have to turn it on and off in exchange for low weight and a much cheaper price. So I thought I'd try the Primary Arms micro red dot.

    Pros:
    - Cost
    - Dot looks fine on mine, crisp with no blur or comma or anything like some have experienced.
    - I was concerned about emitter blocking view, and it does block a small amount, but is not really noticeable in actual usage.
    - Seems well made and sturdy, except for brightness knob.

    Cons:
    - Brightness selector knob is plastic and doesn't give well-defined clicks. It works, but feels fragile and cheap.
    - Brightness levels are not ideal. The first few are dim, as you'd expect, but then there's a big jump at the 3rd or 4th level to too bright. So the level I'm looking for under some lighting conditions isn't there. Not a huge problem, but it would have been nice if there was a more gradual increase in brightness of each click.
    - You have to remember to turn it on and off to preserve battery rather than leave it on all the time, but you're also paying a lot less.

Yes, it would be nice to have 50,000 hours of battery life while leaving the dot on all the time like with the new model (and for a self-defense application I would require that). But this one is half the price and has a knob for adjusting brightness (instead of push-buttons which I'm leery of). For my particular application this one seems a good balance between price, quality, and capability.

I shhoy Bullseye, Been looking for something to replace my 20+ year old Tasco Propoint. I tried a couple of reflex red dots ( (Sig romeo 3's ), They had serious problems from the beginning. I took a chance on this , because it had a tube like my Tasco. I'm so happy I tried this, the dot is small 2MOA , but round and is centered in the sight, all controls have a definite click and function perfectly, fit easily on my rail. this sight has tightened my groups considerably. BTW it,s even better outside .IF you are looking for a target red dot I can't imagine a better one for the Money i would put it's size between a reflex and the Propoint can't imagine a better one for the Money
